What is the working principle of the degreasing sintering integrated furnace

      The degreasing sintering integrated furnace mainly serves MIM metal injection molding, powder metallurgy, ceramic injection molding, and 3D printing green bodies. In the same sealed furnace, the two core processes of degreasing and sintering are continuously completed without the need to transfer the green body out of the furnace. It relies on PLC preset temperature control, vacuum, and atmosphere curve for fully automatic operation.
Overall working principle
      The green body containing metal/ceramic powder and organic binder is loaded into a closed furnace, and the equipment heats up in sections according to the preset process curve, regulates the vacuum and protective atmosphere, completes degreasing, sintering, controllable cooling, and produces dense parts in one go. Do not open the furnace door throughout the entire process to avoid contamination, oxidation, collision, and deformation of semi-finished products.
Stage 1: Degreasing process (glue dispensing stage)
The green body contains organic binders such as paraffin, POM, PEG, etc. inside, which are used for molding and shaping and must be completely removed.
The equipment slowly heats up to the degreasing range of 200-600 ℃, using partial pressure atmosphere blowing/vacuum thermal degreasing/catalytic degreasing modes:
Adhesive vaporizes and undergoes thermal cracking when heated;
Introduce nitrogen as a carrier gas to continuously carry away the gaseous products of cracking;
The vacuum system, in conjunction with a cold trap (grease trap), captures condensed organic matter to prevent oil contamination of heating elements and vacuum pumps;
Strictly control the heating rate to prevent rapid gasification of the adhesive from causing bubbling and cracking of the workpiece;
After degreasing, the green body transforms into a porous brown body.
Divide into two mainstream degreasing modes:
① Hot degreasing: relying on heating cracking to adapt to paraffin based feeding;
② Catalytic degreasing: Inject nitric acid catalytic steam to rapidly decompose POM binder at low temperature (MIM mainstream process).
Stage 2: High temperature sintering process
After degreasing is completed, the furnace continues to heat up to the sintering temperature of the material (about 1300-1450 ℃ for stainless steel and above 1600 ℃ for high-temperature alloys), and switches to high vacuum or hydrogen/inert protective atmosphere:
Atomic diffusion occurs on the surface of powder particles, forming sintering necks between particles, and the pores continue to shrink and eliminate, resulting in continuous shrinkage and densification of the body;
By regulating the grain structure through long-term insulation, the parts can achieve the target strength, hardness, and density.
Stage 3: Controllable Cooling
After the sintering insulation is completed, inert gas is introduced at the set rate for forced cooling to prevent oxidation, deformation, and cracking of the workpiece. After cooling to a safe temperature, it is removed from the furnace.
Integrated design core logic
Traditional process: Take out the brown billet from the degreasing furnace, transport it, and then load it into the sintering furnace.
Integrated furnace: Defatting and sintering are carried out continuously in the same furnace, eliminating the need for transfer and preventing the brown billet from being exposed to air, adsorbing impurities, and oxidizing, greatly improving the yield of finished products and shortening the production cycle.
